I dunno if I’ll keep it like this. I’m not a great artist, but I think it’s okay. Hooray progress!

Preliminary face art for Ember Sky’s drunken hero.
I dunno if I’ll keep it like this. I’m not a great artist, but I think it’s okay. Hooray progress!

So I got Trials and Tribulations, finally, and surprisingly enough I’ve been anble to do other things besides play it. It’s great so far, although I hate hate HATE Mia’s voice. Apparently the annoying psyche lock thing is still in… damn, I hate that. Ah well. I’m not so sure about Apollo Justice, but I hear there’s a game coming where you play as Edgeworth. My inner screaming fangirl squeals with delight. i love that poofy neck thing he wears– is that a crevat? Hmm.
But the more important thing– I have the preliminary sketches for Ember Sky’s facesets ready! I have to install my pprinter/scanner and scan them, then color them, and they’ll be ready for action. In the mean time, I’m wrapping up the intro. Hopefully I won’t get too distracted!
Also in exciting yayness– I’m finally getting my film processed from a few weeks ago. This means soon I’ll be able to post some of my new photos! Yay! Perhaps I’ll even post a picture of my beautiful self, hmm? Haha… in much better spirits now. There is no freaking way I’m gonna let myself backslide over a freaking bathing suit.
Also, good news for those following my hideous clothing adventures– I have shirts. They fit me. Let’s throw a party.
Ember Sky is my RPG Maker 2003 game. A demo was released, but it was crap. Utter crap. So I’m starting fresh. Hopefully, the guy doing the art will come through. I hope. In the mean time, the summary:
Currently I’m working on the epic opening. It’s pretty awesome. Custom music is also being done by Joe, aka AForgottenLegend, who is my hero. *grin*
Introduction:
The world of Ember Sky is dictated by two primary forces, Chaos and Reason. Too far into Chaos, and the order of things falls apart completely. Too far into Reason, and the universe stagnates, making change and progress impossible. Charged with the balance of these two forces are the Domierni, a race with access to the workings of this Greater Balance. When a young scientist, Grey Antharos, seeks to further understand the balance so as to improve the lives of humans, he drags himself into ruin and defines the course his partner, Christophe diSayre, will follow for the rest of his life.
Two years after a horrific end to Grey’s experiments, Christophe is a lonely drunkard who will do just about anything for money– except get a real job. Although he thinks his dealings with the Domierni and the supernatural are over, he finds himself repeatedly brought back into everything he had tried to forget. His journey becomes one to find the truth about what happened in the experiments and why, and how he is connected to all of it.
Characters:
Characters:
Christophe DiSayre
Age 25
Weapon: Handgun
Special Skill: Treatment (a treatment used on bullets to invoke status and elemental damage)
Christophe is a down-on-his-luck ex-scientist whose primary hobbies include drinking, cursing, and micromanaging. As a result of a traumatic incident involving his best friend/colleague, Grey, and a test experiment, Christophe is incredibly wary of all things supernatural. Unfortunately, his knowledge of this experiment ties him into a conflict greater than he could have possibly realized.
Caolan Ravendi
Age 17
Weapon: Mage’s Gloves
Special Skill: Magecraft
In contrast to Christophe’s cynical nature, Caolan presents a front of carefree innocence. He’s not as naive as he would have everyone believe, however— his magic seems to be more of a burden than most mages deal with. On occasion, Caolan is very cryptic, to the point where Christophe never knows how much of Caolan’s words to trust. As the story progresses, Caolan finds that even he does not know himself as well as he had thought.
Lyra Elseth
Age 24
Weapon: Sword
Special Skill: TBA
A former general of the royal army, Lyra defects for reasons she has yet to reveal to Christophe. Her brother, Athair, remains one of the army’s deadliest generals. Christophe meets Lyra in the city of Huinn, where she warns him to leave town before her brother arrives. Little does Christophe know that Lyra’s reasons for warning him have little to do with his own safety.
Athair “Flameheart” Elseth
Age 30
Special Skill: Flameheart (powerful fire-type moveset, better than Caolan’s magic)
Weapon: Big red-bladed sword
Athair is considered one of the best younger generals available to the kingdom of Marionna. Despite his strength and reputation, Athair is cheerful and easy-going. Since becoming involved with his new superior, Athair has cut off ties to Lyra and grown intensely close with Arin, who accompanies him on almost every mission. He becomes good friends with Christophe.
Arin “Shadowblade”
Age 22
Special Skill: Shadowblade (dark-elemental sword attacks and magic)
Weapon: Rapier
Arin is well known not only for his status as the youngest of the elite officers, but also for his mysterious origins. All anyone seems to know about his background is that he was found by Athair two years before the events of ES. When angered, he often overreacts, especially when someone he feels responsible for is hurt. During the course of the story, Arin eventually decides to protect Caolan.
Evariste Rainer
Age 16
Special Skill: Heal, Channel
Weapon: Athame
Evariste is the only surviving child of one of Arthei’s most prominent noble families. He fancies himself a prodigy, and chose to study healing arts simply because they were the most challenging specialty available. His ability to channel stems from his family’s long-seated association with Chaos. He is currently a student at Arthei’s prestigious mage academy.
Grey Antharos
Age 34 at death
Grey was a scientist working on a project involving the Domierni, a race of people charged with maintaining balance between chaos and reason. A calm, reserved man, he was Christophe’s idol until his death. Grey’s project will slowly resurface and once more become the focus of Christophe’s life.
And yeah, I pasted that straight from the summary at Charas. So sue me.
Readers, especially my lovely oranges, are encouraged to ask me about being included in the game as Elite soldiers, mages, or otherwise NPC (not playable characters). I love doing that stuff.
